SCHOLARSHIP NOTE
I have had inquiries from parents concerning paid scholarship search services. Here is my answer:
Be cautious. If any service you meet with asks for any money up front, it is probably nothing more than them doing an internet search, which is free to anyone. Beware of any service which requires up front fees or offers ‘guarantees’. In the past, one company promised a certain amount of scholarship money, but you had to prove you applied for and did not receive the scholarships…a big problem because most scholarships DO NOT notify you if you were not chosen, so the scholarship company did not have to ‘honor’ their promised refund!
I recommend www.fastweb.com which can be completed as a junior or senior. They will do the ‘search’ for you and send via email the ones that match up with gender, religion, GPA, location, activities, music, athletics, etc. Then they will notify you as new scholarships are added to their database which fit your criteria.
