2019 Game plan for making up missed school days

As I sit here in my office and watch it continue to snow, I thought I'd send a quick note to let everyone know our game plan for the rest of the school year. As of today we have missed 9 days of school. We have also had 5 late starts/early outs. Our last day of school is June 5, 2019. The game plan is to not have school past Friday, June 7, 2019. If we get to that point, we will look to lengthen the school day to accumulate enough minutes to get us to the 1080 hours requirement set by the state. We could start the school day on Wednesday at our normal time and move professional development to after school to gain an additional 60 minutes a week. The last day of school is scheduled for an 11 a.m. dismissal but could be a full day if need be. We are not looking at spring break and other scheduled holidays to make up time. We also have 16.3 hours built into the calendar for late starts and early outs. If we have no more missed time, we could also use those hours at the end of the year (that equates to 2 days). The good news is we have some options. The bad news is it's only February 12, 2019 and we have a lot of winter left. I appreciate everyone's patience. It's been quite a year. Hang in there.

A reminder that we have school scheduled for this Friday, February 15, 2019. It is a built in snow make-up day. Graduation will still be on Sunday, May 19, 2019. The seniors are not required to make up snow days.
